Whenever I buy beauty products, I enjoy reading reviews and finding what will work best for me. One of my favorite things is finding a good drug store substitute of a high end product. You may remember, but I wrote this post comparing a drug store vs. high end concealer. And now I’m writing this post to compare these two mascaras!
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again but mascara is such a personal preference. Each person wants/needs different things with a mascara. For me personally, I look for a volumizing mascaras vs. a lengthening mascara. My eyelashes are naturally pretty long but the tips are blonde. Meaning that, if I don’t have mascara on, they don’t look long or full. Volumizing mascara coats my lashes to make them darker, fuller, and look the length that they are.
If you’re in the market for a great volumizing mascara, these are both really great options! I have used and loved both mascaras and in my opinion, they are almost identical. The brushes are pretty much the same and the only thing that differs a little bit is the formula. The L’Oreal version flakes a little bit after a few hours of wear and the Tarte version does not. For me, the flaking is minimal enough that I would definitely recommend the drugstore version over the high end version because of the significant difference in price point.
Do you know if you need a volumizing mascara or a lengthening mascara? If not, I’d love to help you find a mascara that you love!
