Makeup Essentials for Travel
Packing is typically hard for me because I have a tendency to over-pack. However, after we’ve traveled quite a bit more in the past year I’ve realized how important it is to pack as efficiently as possible. After packing my capsule wardrobe for Europe, I feel like I can do anything. 😉
Honestly, I think of packing now as a fun challenge. I have to get creative on what I do and don’t pack, usually giving each item multiple purposes. I’m always curious what type of makeup everyone takes with them when they travel, so I put together this post so that you could see what I take!
When it comes to makeup, I try to take as little as possible while still giving myself lots of options. I can use all of the makeup products listed above for my typical daytime look and elevate my look for a night out (see how-to below) only using eight products!
This contour palette is great because it serves as blush, bronzer, and highlighter all-in-one, making it compact and efficient. I love IT Cosmetics products, which is why I bought this one. However, if you are looking for a less expensive option, this one is very similar!
Cream eye shadows are great to travel with because they can’t break and spill in your makeup bag. Has anyone ever had that happen? This is a less messy option and I like how much longer they last when you’re wearing them.
I typically wear tinted moisturizer instead of regular foundation because I’ve found that’s what works best for my skin. I would recommend finding a foundation or tinted moisturizer with SPF in it (like this one), especially for traveling. This is helpful if you happen to be out in the sunlight for an extended period of time sight seeing then your face is still protected.
Concealer is a must for me due to my under eye circles but it may not be for you. However, if you have long travel time, this can make you look like you got a full night sleep. For this concealer, it’s best if you use a setting powder to avoid any tackiness. If you are looking for a less expensive concealer and setting powder option, this concealer is comparable and this setting powder will do the trick.
I like to add a little bit of color to my lips and these are great for adding a nice rosy tint. They are basically like tinted chapstick.
How to use 3 makeup products to elevate your look from day to night:
- Apply a shimmery cream eyeshadow to your eyelid (the one linked in the graphic is my fav!)
- Add the IT Cosmetics bronzer into the crease of your eyelid
- Swipe a little bit of highlighter on the tops of your cheekbones
- Use your favorite lip stick/gloss for a bold lip!
What makeup do you take with you when you travel? Do you go all out, keep it minimal, or wear nothing at all? I’d love to know!
