Travel: Santa Cruz, CA

Seacliff State Beach

Similar to last summer, my sister lived in a different state! So, of course, we had to visit ๐Ÿ˜‰ You may recall, last summer my sister was in Estes Park, CO and this summer she was in Santa Cruz, CA.

Between Europe and vacation time from work, we decided to go over the weekend of July 4th, like we did last summer. It worked out really well! We both had Tuesday off as a holiday; so we took Friday and Monday off of work and were able to spend four days in California. We flew out to California on Thursday night and flew back to Ohio on Tuesday morning.

A little bit of background on California! My parents lived in the Santa Cruz area for about two years and my family has visited California twice. California holds a special place in my heart because of the visits I was able to take their with my family. Our California memories come up in conversation pretty often so it was fun for Troy to experience a few of the places first hand and actually know what we are talking about. ๐Ÿ™‚

It was so much fun to show Troy around Santa Cruz and show him ‘our’ favorite spots. A few of which are Manuel’s Mexican Restaurant, Erik’s Deli, Santa Cruz Coffee Roasting, The Forest of Nisene Marks State Park, and Natural Bridges State Beach. In the past, we have visited Big Sur, but due to a landslide we were not able to visit. Big Sur is so pretty.

My sister is basically the best person to visit because she always has plans or ideas of things to do. We ate some amazing aรงaรญ bowls, visited a beautiful beach (we saw whales!), and did a few great hikes. She was super flexible with her schedule and basically spent all of her free time with us (so nice!).

Our trip to California was the perfect mixture of hiking, going to the beach, relaxing and incredible food. California never disappoints. ๐Ÿ™‚
